KHOJ
This was an integrated health & development project.

CREFTDA concentrated its activities from 1996 to 2005. As per the felt need of the area we initiated a project named Khoj project (search) with the assistance of VHAI, New Delhi and EED Germany.

The project aimed at control of morbidity and reducing infant and maternal mortality rate. The KHOJ project area was consisted of 45 revenue villages and 32 distinct hamlets of 4 Gram Panchayats covering a population of 19,123 in inaccessible pockets of Similipal forests. More than 85% inhabitants were tribal and the literacy is 38 where female literacy was on 20%. Realizing the different dimension and magnitude of the project area CREFTDA begun to work with communities focusing on awareness generation, capacity building and provision for curative services. After 2 years we shifted our focus from curative services to preventive as well as promotive health services by educating them. As per the felt - need of Village level committees and women groups for sustenance of the project activities and accordingly Committees & groups were formed and strengthened. As more than 80% families were belonged to food insecure category we focused on agro based activities.

For the improvement of health status of the project area we took curative & preventive aspects of health in our intervention. Health team of the project rendered these health services for the minor ailments at the grass root level. We provided health services from Health Center by our doctor, pharmacist from 2000 to 2005 which was located at Badaposi of Rugudi GP.
