CREFTDA has been undertaking People centered governance project in 2 panchayats (Mananda, Baunsanali) of Jashipur Block since April 2012. Later in 2015 Jamukeswar panchayat has been included in the project for replication of good practices. The project is supported by Centre for World Solidarity (CWS).
These panchayats exist at the boarder of the Jharkhand State and more than 60% area is covered with forest. We are working in 15 villages out of 25 villages. Around 90% of the members are from the tribal community and their education level is very poor. In these villages tribal concentration is very high. After the panchayat election the PRI representatives did not get any training. So, for an accountable governance we under took this initiative. The total numbers of PRI members are19 out of which 5 are male and the rest 14 are female. The total population of the area is 8104 out of which 4050 are male and 4054 are female. In addition, 1482 out of 1856 families remain below poverty line.
